Q & A Part Two - July 30th 2006

1. Are there any unreleased songs that you would like to see get to the outside world? I'm thinking especially of Kit.

Well none of them got finished for one reason or another so....not really

What did you think of Morrissey saying that he thinks your finest composition is Reader Meet Author? What do you think your finest composition is?

I always liked “Now my heart is full”, “The more you ignore me” and “Jack the ripper!

Do you feel demeaned playing the glasses during "Life Is A Pigsty", or do you find it a tad amusing?

Demeaned? Well it's on the record so someone has to play em!

Best Wishes,

Peter Finan

2. Hi Boz,
Hope all is well. A couple of questions for you..

Were studio recordings made of Playing Easy To Get and Noise Is The Best
Revenge made (aside from the BBC session)? If so, any chance they'll be
released on a Ringleader single? I especially love Playing Easy...should
of been on the album! Keep up the great work!

Joey
Orange County, CA

No there weren't ,so I don't see them seeing the light of day....

3. Hi Boz what are thoughts on Marion, Gene and other other bands who have split up in the last few years do you feel as its the lack of exposure or just the emergence of all the pop idol and boybands etc who have all the radio play and so forth?

James
Leeds

Well I quite liked them both, but I would find it hard to keep being the same band for many years without improving your audience and recorded output, when you feel that maybe the band has ran its course and the creative flair might have diminished somewhat. But saying that, there actually seems to be more young bands around at the moment, which is a good thing.

4.
hello Boz, how does it feel to still be working with Morrissey after all this time and can you tell me a bit about the process this entails?

thank you, best wishes

karin scotland

Well it's a great thing to do, but the process of work?
We go into a studio and record songs , then we rehearse and then we go out and play shows!

5. Would you consider releasing Bootlegs of every show for this tour? (sample "Pearl Jam 2000 Tour Bootlegs") Every single show is available for purchase.

Love the new album, and hope to see you guys live soon.

Elizabeth

It's not up to me but I would doubt it, there's quite a lot of live Morrissey records already out there.

6. Hi there,

Jose Maldonado from Sweet and Tender Hooligans. I'd like to submit a question for Boz's upcoming Q & A.

Do you or any of the band like to work out, excercise, etc.? I'd be curious to know if Morrissey, Jesse, Gary, or you lift weights or go running, swimming, that kind of thing. If so, are you able to fit that time in when you're all busy touring?

Hope your enjoying the tour. We're waiting with baited breath for your return to the States. You know how much we love you in Los Angeles.

Cheers,

Jose

Well it is hard to keep fit on tour, some of us manage it better than others - I'll let you work out who....

7. Favorite guitar chord?
E 7/9 as in the last chord of “Baby let's play house” by Elvis

What Smiths song wish you had written? If any.
I don't know... there's some great ones, “Headmasters ritual” is a killer!

What A. Whyte song wish you had written? If any.
“Find out for yourself” is great.

What exactly are the duties of „Musical Director”?
Arrange the songs so they sound good live, lead the sound check at shows sort out troubles with the sound , rehearse tuff spots in songs... generally oversee all the music and players.

Have you ever been to Graceland?
Yes a few years back, it was great!

If you could spend one hour with Elvis, what would you want to do? Eat burgers, play guitar, chase skirts? Etc.
Probably talk about the early Sun days and get him to sing along with me on an acoustic.

What does Moz think that Elvis loved hamburgers and such?
I don't know, you'll have to ask him...

Did you ever meet Scotty Moore?
Yes, in London a few years back at a show he gave, very nice gentleman.

Do you prefer touring US West Coast or East Coast or Midwest, or neither or all?
I like all those places, maybe not quite the Mid West as much as the coasts.

Do you ever feel like a particular song was too indulgent, too overproduced that made it to one of your records?
No, I like all the tracks we've put out.

How many days/weeks do you guys rehearse before going on a full-blown tour?
2 or 3 weeks I think this time....

Thanks,
GAJ
