So it's 2001 , things were winding down to a quiet end towards Xmas , the stuff with the Velvet Ghost was taking shape nicely , did some occasional work with American Jeff , did some gigs with Sophisticated Savage , opening up for Elvez , [what a showman!] Kid Rocker dragged me over to New York for some shows and a bit of recording , did a quick Polecat's gig in Long Island, then flew home for Pearl's birthday. Then came the terrible news of Kirsty's death which left us completely devastated, we are still trying to come to terms with this terrible loss, there is a public memorial service at St Martin's In The Fields on Saturday 20th January at 11 am. Did a John's Children gig on the 30th in Camden , which was well attended. Sonny George came over and we did the 12 Bar Club , they always do a live webcast , so check 'em out. Off to Holland for a Sonny George trip on the 13th. I just got some news and I might be joining Jimmy Gneco to launch his album in the States, we made it a couple of years back but it's finally ready. It's on Dreamworks and was produced by Steve Lillywhite. Boz'n'Lyn

March was a full month , visitors to the studio included Goldwing, The Hoard , Andy Ellison and Sophisticated Savage . Cody Dickinson , [son of Jim Dickinson, famed Memphis musician/producer] , paid the UK a visit , he plays drums in the North Missisippi All Stars , so we put together a band called the Angel Music All Stars and did 2 low key shows , Cody on drums , Andy Hackett on acoustic and James on lead, at the 2nd show we were joined by the illustrious Patrick Arbuthnot on steel guitar . Boz played double bass and a good time was had by all. Sandwiched in between the 2 shows Boz went to Sweden for the night and played with The Deltas, at the A-bombers party. We're off to Los Angeles for Easter , Boz is doing a solo acoustic show on the 10th April in Fais Do-Do on Adams and La Brea. Then off to the rockabilly fest in Vegas After we get back John's Children are playing at the Steve Marriot tribute show at the London Astoria on Friday the 20th . In May we're off to Ireland for our yearly pilgimage to Kilkenny, on the 3rd Boz is doing another solo show at Whelan's in Dublin, before 3 nights of mayhem in Kilkenny with "Boz and Friends" . To celebrate the event we've pressed up a small number of souvenir CDs that will be available at the shows. After that The Nick Gilroy Kombo are making a well earned return to Hemsby for the umpteenth rock 'n' roll weekender on the 11th. Boz'n'Lyn

The Boz solo show in Dublin was fun, special guests including the singer from the Would-be's, Martin from Sac , Sean Macgloin on fiddle and Spider from the Pogues all got up. Extra special guest was the knife wielding maniac with a hatred for the police who grabbed the microphone, ranted and raged for a couple of minutes and then disappeared. Kilkenny was the usual mayhem, our secret weapon was Sean, who piped us in each night on the bagpipes and then we'd play a rock'n'roll bagpipe tune, even live on the radio. Recent visitors to the studio have been the Specimens [from my local pub!], Steve Hooker, Nicole Richards and Daniel from the Marathon Bar. Lyn played with a Johnny Cash tribute band The Folsom Four at the Golden Lion in Camden on the 20th. It was the day after Boz's birthday so it was another excuse for a party. They also did a stonking version of Benny Hill's 'Ernie" which was very well received. The Nick Gilroy Kombo played a fun show somewhere near Milton Keynes on the 26th May They also played the big rockabilly festival in Germany on the 2nd June and on the 3rd Boz had a mad dash to Onkle near Cologne to play with John's Children at some mad mod festival. So coming up there's Angel Music All-stars gigs at the Swan in Stockwell on the 20th June and at the Golden Lion on the 1st July, both free admission. Lyn's playing with Little George at the Butter Market in Shrewsbury on the 28th June. John's Children are doing a Midsummer Night's Scene at the Monarch in Camden on the 30th June. The Deltas are playing a charity bash in Fintray in Scotland 6th and 7th July, then we are trying to put together a mad Irish trip round Dublin, The Wexford Festival and Kilkenny the weekend after, featuring the talents of Boz and Friends also playing behind Paul Birch from Nashville and Sonny George is making a return trip over and he'll be in tow too. An all star cast indeed. Halfway through the weekend Lyn and Brian have to make a mad dash to Wrexham to play with Little George, then back to Ireland Sonny George is also doing 2 consecutive shows at the 12 bar club on the 27th and 28th July this is also broadcast live on the web but I'm not sure of the site, probably 12barclub.co.uk or something like that, do a search for it! That's it for now cheers ..... Boz'n'Lyn |

After a hard August's vacationing we came back with a bump and alongside Sonny George performed at Bellmarsh prison in London. No longer the home to Jeffrey Archer, but still home to Great Trainrobber Ronnie Biggs who was too ill to attend although we did dedicate the song "Hillbilly Train" to him. It was a strange yet interesting experience after having played the Tennessee State Women's Prison in Nashville 2 years ago. We played in the chapel to about a tenth of the prison's 700 inmates and although they didn't get up and dance they showed their appreciation by making a rowdy noise. Next stop gigwise is the John's Children gig ( sep 15th) at the Underworld in Camden, The weekend is the anniversary of Marc Bolan's death , he was the guitarist in John's Children and his son Rolan is coming over from the States to play and sing with us. It is also rumoured to be the last gig as Chris the drummer has decided to call it a day. Looks like Boz will be DJing on the night and also setting up a stall selling memorabillia and records. It does however have an early finish of 10:30 when the gig turns into a night club. After this Boz plays with blues-a-billy funsters the Deltas at a festival near Dortmund in Germany on the 22nd Sept. [Update: Festival taking place in Gütersloh, at the "Weberei"] and the following 2 weekends could see Sonny George at festivals in Norway. Plans are afoot for a Mountain Goats' show alongside the Folsom Four [Lyn's Johnny Cash tribute band] at the 12 bar on the 3rd November, this is also broadcast live on the web for everyone to see. The Folsom Four have done one gig so far but their repertoire stretches to a killer version of Benny Hill's "Ernie" and Oasis's "Don't Look Back In Anger" both done A-La-Cash! |

The dates are: Thursday, 11/22/01 Berlin, Razzle Dazzle, Mühlenstr.12, Berlin-Friedrichshain (doors open 7 p.m.) The set will resemble those he already played in L.A. and Dublin, though in Berlin he'll be joyned by members of local Rockabilly combos Dusty Gray and the Desperado Five for a bit of a rockin' finish!
