It's been a long while since the site has been updated I know but I have been on tour for 7 months

It was a lot of fun and I visited some great places and met some great people , thank you all . Since I got back I have been busy ,In april we went to the country roots festival in kilkenny ,ireland we put a band together with brian nevill and dibbs from the rockats singing and we did 3 small gigs , they were a lot of fun and a lot of friends showed up , 3 very late nights though.the night before we left my mates andy ellison and chris townson were playing a mammoth 3 band marathon at dingwalls with Jet ,Radio Stars and John's children so i got up with them for the john's children songs and surprised them by wearing full mariachi costume , as we all did with morrissey in mexico only this time i wore the rather
large rimmed sombrero.

Chas Smash has a new band The VELVET GHOST

It's an 8 piece band at the moment so rehearsals are mayhem.

we played our first gig at the Fleadh festival in Finsbury Park the first time I had played there since Morrissey opened for Madness, it was a lot of fun and the weather was great Kirsty MacColl was on good form as was billy bragg who had Ian Maclagan playing keyboards, he used to be in the small faces and the faces. We also had a lot of fun at the Ian

Dury memorial gig, and partied on with the best of 'em til the early hours. i think Ian was a well-loved and very top geezer, someone who was quite unique in his talent.

Next on our agenda is a vacation in california where i'll be doing some polecats shows with tim , then when we get back sonny george is over so we'll do some shows with him . the cd

we recorded with him at the tennessee state women's prison in nashville last year is now mixed and ready to be released { unlike some of the inmates we played to!] Maverick nick cane also managed to be there along with bubba mead ,it was a great experience . we also managed to get to atlanta and memphis where of course we visited the legendary Sun Studios and Graceland.there are some polecat shows booked for england at the end of september and i believe a john's children gig possibly on the 1st october somewhere near Rimini Italy . On the family front both Pearl and Billie were baptized in June and Billie has taken her first communion , Billie rose is starting at a new school in september that specialises in the performing arts . Pearl is attending nursery school daily. so lyn is busy redecorating while i've been busy in the studio , current visitors have been : spider from the pogues with his new band WISEMEN, American girl singer STELLA who has been writing with steve torch and myself. I've been writing with the dance/lounge act Sophisticated Savage and doing some rockabilly with lee and mick who used to be one track mind ,tim dunn's been in doing his own eclectic masterpieces and gary day's been working on some stuff we did some drums with spike so we've kept in touch.

little more regularly now hopefully...
