Diary 05
25th Nov - Sinnin in the South started off with a reluctant start: Boz has been so busy with Moz & the lads recording & gadding around the globe with The Polecats and with Katrina killing 3 of our dates we were gonna pull the shows. We decided at the last minute to go & support our mates over the pond & Im delighted that we did. Lloyd, Tjarko & Joe were fantastic B-Men and did a great job, cheers you lot.
We took off from London on Wed 16th and went in to Houston, drove straight to meet Kirsty at Jinnys little longhorn (Won dive of the year award 2004) in Austin & saw a great country singer , Justin Trevino. We had a merry night just hanging out and listening to requests including "Genitalia Of A Fool" & loads of George Jones. I learnt to do the Texas Two step L.O.L
.
The next day we were worried about Lloyd because we were rehearsing in Austin (thanks to Kevin Smith for lending me his bass) & didnt know were he was. True Lloyd style he was standing at the studio waiting for us, he had driven all the way from San Francisco (2 days), what a trooper. That night in Austin we had nice dinner across from the gig, Mexican food when Charlie Brown and Susan showed up! We then went and sound checked, went to the hotel & fell asleep, missed Girl in a Coma play, Sorry Girls!! We came on and & played a great set! (Thanks to Dylan for the Bass, cheers Man).We hung out after the show & had a few beers & then fell into bed.
Got up and drove to San Antonio. Had a late lunch at the Olive Garden & a couple of bottles of wine then made our way to the gig to set up and sound checked. We found the worst hotel in the world where I fell & busted up my knee (thank you Nina for the ice pack). Sams is a cool venue and we were treated great from everyone involved. (Thanks this time to Ben for his Bass, Cheers Ben). Girls in a coma were fantastic & you really should check these kids out. The show was Rockinand when Lloyd broke a string on his guitar Boz took the opportunity to play a couple solo songs for the crowd," Jack The Ripper" and "Save Me A Stool at the bar" which went down a storm with the crowd! After the show we hung out with Ray from Tattooed Boy Clothing & the Girls. Had a few drinks with Tjarko & Maria &the gang!
Saturday up early & off to Huston airport & bid our goodbyes to Joe who flew home to Nola. We headed into Houston Main st. & went to a nice little Irish Pub... Had a couple of drinks then went and ate. We decided to head over to the venue where Big Sandy and the Boys were playing to surprise them and since they weren't coming on till 11pm we stepped next door and visited a great record shop & found a Debut mag from 1983 with The Shillelagh Sisters on it, weird! We then moved one more door over to the pub where we ended up staying for several hours... We went to the continental club to see Big Sandy they were very surprised to see me & Susan approaching the stage with a tray full of Tequila shots, I quote Lyn Boorers in the house, things are gonna get a lil Crazy & he was right... They put on a great show as usual and then during the encore he asked Boz to come up and play with them, I somehow ended up there too, dont remember how but I tore up my fingers & bled all over Jeffs Bass, Im Sorry Jeff. After a couple of songs Big Sandy stepped into the audience and we all where treated to a couple of songs by Boz and The Boys...well after we said goodbye to Charlie and Susan we all hung out and had a few drinks with the boys and eventually drug ourselves away about 545am... (This part is taken from Jays piece on My Space because now I have no memory at all of what happened
.. TEQUILLA, ME AND BIG SANDY is a crazy combination
..)
Boz, Lloyd & myself went back to the hotel & got to bed at around 9.30 am!! We woke at noon & dragged poor ole Big E out of his bed to go down to The Continental club to look for my 2 rings Id lost. One is a gold/diamond engagement ring from my Aunt who has passed over & Im really sad that Ive lost it, the other is a sliver /turquoise, chunky ring that I got at Green Bay , if any of yall have seen them please give em back to me, there will be a drink in it for ya! I also lost my phone for 3 days then found it in my shoe L.O.L ha ha
Sunday morning with my head hanging low we drove all the way back to Austin to go to Chicken Shit Bingo at Jinnys
. ha ha ha ha
Dont Even Ask!!
Went to bed early & slept for 14 hours
Monday we shopped all day to get the kids some gifts (its Billie Roses 17th birthday 24th Nov, said goodbye to Lloyd & went down to meet Kirsty & Mel at The Dale Watson show, had a few beers then took our tired sorry arses to bed
Tuesday at noon we drove back through the nether regions of Texas & caught our flight back to London!!
We are gonna do it all again in L.A on the 10th December but before that Big Sandy are playing so BEWARE
. TEQUILLA, ME & BIG SANDY!!....................

JuThe Festival went off with great gusto, Sunny Belfast,Clarenden Dock, 2
pubs,a Marquee and great Music who could ask for anything better.
Boz helped out an old friend Fozzy & his band Aces Wild, they Played
Saturday Lunch-time in the main marquee, Dave & Jane from
Geronimo/Dare-Devil clothing were selling T-shirts like hot cakes (I helped
out until my hangover repaired itself).
We played Friday & Saturday nights in Pats bar to a completely packed house,
a great crowd that really made us feel at home.
Sunday night we played the Marquee early so we were then free to dance the
night away to one of our favourites "Big Sandy & the boys" add a lil'
Tequila to the mix & I'm in Rock'n'Roll heaven. As always the parties went
on into the wee wee hours until it was time to pack up the show & head back
onto the bus & home to London.........We will be back next year.
Thanks to Kirsty & Kay who put the thing together, to Gerry & Billy Lee for
the sounds & to all the fun folks that we hung out with.
Cheers
Lyn B.

June 9th - Hey All,
just a quick up-date from us "The Boorers" to fill in the gaps & let you know what is going on with us. Well , firstly work has started on our studio in Monchique, which we are very excited about & can't wait for our next visit out to see the developments, sounds fab. Hats off to Charlie.............
Last Sunday we did a warm up show for the Belfast Fest (www.Belfastroots.com) we are playing soon with Big Sandy & the Boys, (1-3 July) it was fun & very hot!!
Boz Boorer's Hillbilly Bop is a new thang we are playin' with, Brian, Pat & Bubba, what a blast we all had, & a great crowd too, the Fiddlers Elbow was Rockin' on Sunday.
Last week a band that Boz played with in the '80's, The Deltas, went up to Manchester, they were received very well & put on a great show. Boz was pleasantly surprised to bump into Mr Johnny Marr (who was rehearsing in the same building) & popped into the gig to watch a couple of numbers, it was a real buzz for some of the crowd that attended the show.
Boz is busy writing in his studio here in London, lots of stuff on the horizon and all very interesting..............
On the Morrissey front, all is cool & everyone is doing Okay. We were a bit confused to hear, apparent misinformed banter/ranting about an interview that Boz gave on a radio station, this was infact an interview given to a free-lance guy at the Manchester gig who somehow misconstrued the answers to the questions given in a genuine way by Boz to the interviewer. Somewhere along the line it turned into something out of TheTwilight Zone, sad thing is that people believe everything they hear/ read!!
Oh I wish I had that much time to spare.....
We are of course in contact with all our mates in the band and life goes on as ever....
We are getting ready for The Polecat's Shows that are coming up in the near future & Boz & The-B-Men are booked for a tour of Texas & N.Orleans in the fall.........So Watch this Space,
all the best & take care,
Lyn Boorer

April 22nd - Boz & The Boz -Men hit Green Bay Wisconsin on Wednesday 13th April 2005, this is the 2nd festival at The Oneida Raddisson hotel and it lasted 6 days with tons of great bands, old & new.
This event is held on an Indian Reservation in the middle of no-where and is organized by a great bunch of people of which there are to many to mention but I will have to put Marc & Melissa Mencher and their partner Phil from Green Bay up there at the top.
The festival is in a casino and is attended by Rockin' Folk from all over the world.
The first night Slim Jim (Stray Cats) asked us if we wanted to do a jam session at his gig which was held every night between 8pm & 12pm in the Casino bar. Boz,Deano & myself (Lyn) jammed through a couple of numbers which was a lotta fun.
After a quick run through on Thursday evening we got ready & the stage time for us was 1:30 am we played the big main hall. Boz & myself were joined by Dean (Kid Rocker Micetitch), Deano (Mozzer band) Butterworth and a great old friend Mr Lloyd Tripp of Zip-Guns fame.
The Boz -Men were ready & our old buddy Big Sandy introduced us to the crowd, 2 songs in the room was full and the crowd was buzzing.
It was great to see so many old friends and new ones too in the audience, they loved it and so did we. Our set was a very loud kind of British Rockabilly and we were helped along with our sound by Mr Ryan (Merle Haggards sound guy) who did a great job. I like to say thanks to all the gang that attended we had a ball ya'll, Cheers!!
Between the main acts in the big hall Boz DJ'd Friday and Saturday nights, mostly delving into his collection of original 45s hauled over for this purpose.
Saturday night Boz played in the Ronnie Dawson Tribute band with Eddie Angel & Jarko on Guitars, the great Lisa. P. on drums & the boys from High Noon..... various other musicians got up including myself to celebrate the life of our great & sadly missed Ronnie Dawson, I'm sure he would have approved.......
Cheers to all.

February 28th - Just back from Portugal, nearly finished buying a house there!
Had a good week in Egypt too, although a bit marred when Lyn's mum wasn't let on the plane as her passport had expired. We had a 10 hour delay coming home, which meant I had breakfast in Manchester Airport, where my luggage stayed for 2 days!
---------------
January 24th - So last week I did 3 days rehearsing and filming with Sophisticated Savage, following the interest they have gained from US management. After that I spent 3 days with "Girls in a coma" , 3 fiesty girls from san antonio texas. We did 7 songs so hopefully they can go on to better things.... then I did some guitaring for a new band called "The OneThree", did some remastering on the John's Children album that I've been working on for the last 3 or 4 years, hopefully that's it...
Now , we have secured release in the UK and the US release will have different tracks on.
Co writing tomorrow with my engineer Cam Blackwood then it's off to Portugal to see Charlie Browne for a couple of days and look around the area.
cheers

Lyn's diary: January 17th - So to the end of 2004 & what a year it has been in the Morrissey camp, You are the Quarry has & continues to be an outstanding record that we are all very proud of.
The end of the tour took place at The Point Depot, a huge venue on the north side of Dublin. I took a flight at 5pm from Luton on the show day & picked a car up, drove to the hotel with the kids and met up with Boz.
We hitched a ride with the lads to the show & I had some time to get a few pints in before kick off.
The boys were welcomed in true Dub fashion & a superb show was under way, the high light for me was Jed dressed in a Leprechaun out-fit with a feather duster cleaning the amps....ha .ha.......
If I recall correctly a couple of people managed to get on stage which is always great.
After the show there was a small gathering & Morrissey came in and mingled with the crowd & chatted.
Soon after we all took off to a club for a little party for band, crew & friends to say farewell & happy Xmas... It was a nice touch.
The Boorers retreat back to London & had a peaceful xmas but like everyone else we were extremely upset about the Tsunami disaster in Asia...so terrifying.......oh my.......
2005 sees Boz back in the studio with a girl band from Texas 'Girls in a coma' and it its sounding fantastic.
When that is done we are off on a well deserved holiday...
So Happy New Year to you all & take care...........
PS I have put a couple of pics up from Gaz's camera.
